Hello

I am leaving Singapore in 3 hrs time.

Monday, November 23, 2009

On Saturday, my family members and I went to the Singapore Discovery Centre for almost the whole day. At first my sis wanted to go to the army museum as it was free and we ended up visiting the Singapore Discovery Centre too.

THE POWER OF THREE

We visited the exhibits at the SDC and they were very interesting. They mainly shared about some National Education and in the afternoon we saw some groups of army people there too. We took quite a lot of pictures. There was a particular game that was very memorable the most. The aim of this game was for the team members to kill and shoot the enemy during a war. My mum was in charge of the sea, sis was in charge of the air and I was in charge of the land. We began 'communicating' with the head set and we could hear one another voices. At that moment when we were shooting or bombing, we suddenly heard my father's voice in the headset as though he was really commanding us. Little did I know that he was just behind us 'commanding'. We got a big shock!

The most adventurous part was when we watched 4D and 3D shows inside the SDC and the army museum there too. The 4D one in the SDC was fun as we wore 3D glasses and felt the wind and movement for about 6 mins. That was fun as the show was a jetpack adventure. We also watched another 3D show about a wolf and i kind of had a headache there too. It was quite boring story to me but overall it was still fun wearing those 3D glasses.^^ The army museum 4D show was amazing as there were live 'shots' and mist in that place when the army fights. My sis and I sat on top of the huge military canon and took pictures.

The last thing was the rifle shooting. Not the real one of course but the shots were by sensor and fake sounds. It was my first time holding a rifle and I feel proud about it. We tried 2 rounds one in the SDC and another at the army museum. During the army exhibits, My father feels nostalgic about his army life.

Thats all. This post is private.

The next thing was the shooting

It was a wonderful outing!

Yesterday, after all that band and TD, kim, des and I went to zx's house and to our most famous shopping paradise-DAISO! After we left our crickets in the science biology lab, we took a MRT to Seng kang. On the way, we made a bid on when the MRT door will open when we reach Kovan, the place where we will be meeting Des on the train. ZX bid around 7-12 min, kim bid around 15-20 mins and I guessed around 13-18 mins. The winner have to both give the person a treat of less than $2. It was a tense moment as ZX and I time was quite close. We kept on talking but kim stood there monotonous as it was obvious that she had lost the bet. AT the end, ZX won.

We arrived in Seng Kang in no time and had our lunch at the newly-renovated food court there. I ate the same thing as the last time with ZX. It was some mini-steamboat with milk-based soup, vegetables and fish. It was totally a yumyum as it reminded me of the last time we have eaten this together too. It was cheap as it was $2.80 for each person. HAHA. Kim ordered some Japanese food while Des ordered some caifan.

After, kim have bought some newspapers and ZX with the soya-milk, we then took an LRT to her house. We played X-box. Kim brought many games to her house and introduced us a super complicated game. We played what 'dead or alive', car racing and had a fun time as this was one of my first times playing X-box.

Time flies as by 4.30pm, we were planning to do some shopping in DAISO. We then took a 10 mins walk there. It was big and new and most importantly, with so many things to buy there. EVERYTHING FOR $2. I bought 2 button dolls and some baby biscuits. For the bet we made, kim and I bought one packet of chips to go to Des house to eat in the holidays. We spent about one hr in DAISO and ZX have to rush home to see her AMAZING RACE. We bade her tata and took an LRT back to compass point. WHat a DAY! I borrowed some books back and went home. THE END.

Oh, I am so scared of whether I can get into triple science next year. We will be getting our class combinations on friday! I hope to be at least the same class with one of my friends..Oh ya, band friends too if not I will be lonely again. Seeya, we are still experimenting on crickets. Got some pictures..^^

Holidays are here!!!

I practically spent my first week of holiday in school. How ironic is that. CCA 3 times a week, TD sci projects with crickets.. Thinking of that,it really freaked me out.

At first.......

my first impression of them are cute and jumpy and I didnt know that they are brown in colour. We went to the pet shop early in the morning to buy crickets and the shopkeeper specially open the shop for us then. When he opened the metal gate, we were taken aback by the creepy animals there. LOTS OF MEALWORMS, FROGS, CRICKETS!!!!! My hairs stood on ends and zx kept jumping and running about. Kim remained composed. We stood there as the shopkeeper brought out a container of crickets and he bravely opened the container and put more oats inside for them. KIM HELD ON to the container and tank while we went searching for magnets. The sound of their chirps made my mind go crazy.

THE NEXT DAY.......

The experience of just transferring 4 crickets into the container took kim and I 1 hr to do so. We protected our hands with plastic bags and rubber bands while kim held the penknife like a surgeon as she cut the container. I presumed that we seem like 2 surgeons doing an operation in front of the gardeners and cleaners in my school then. It was unforgettable. kim and I was practically anxious and frightened as we pry a hole open with a fork and wait as a cricket wriggle out into the tank. The 1st one jumped out and crawl around the walls of the school building. Kim found a sweep and swept it down into the tank. WOW that almost took us like 15 mins. We managed to put 4 crickets inside and letting 2 of them escape into the school compound. After all that nerve-wenching operation, we realized that we sweat terribly under the beating rays of the hot sun for exactly one hr around the red brick road. When we are packing things up, kim saw something that looked like a cricket and jumped, however, we laughed and realized that it was just a speck of dustmite. LOL It was such a scary and frightening experience for both of us. We wonder how are we going to tranfer 20 or more of these crickets for the actual experiment. 5 hrs??? I really wonder how some people are not afraid of them, their legs and feelers looked exactly like cockroaches to me.

THE NEXT DAY........

ZX and I went to check on the 'cockroaches' and realized that one of them was DEAD!! I suppose it got stuck into the bread and suffocated. I felt sad for them. They seemed tired and not active. Their chirps are soft or unheard of at all.

THE NEXT DAY.........

WE LET OUT ALL THE CRICKETS.> SHH.... It was rotting inside the container and it smelt terribly because there was too much water. PF told ZX and I to let go of the crickets somewhere. It was a final moment we cant forget as we are letting these American crickets to freedom. It was a terrible experience as I opened and overturned the container of crickets with the oats and the egg thing inside it. We ran for cover. To Where?

THE MOMENT of freedom.

The sight was indescribable as they crawled out and started to chirp super loudly that I thought that almost everyone near the classroom block could hear it.It was rather weird as they werent chirping that loudly in the box. They crept around the container and into the Grass like going for a cricket war. The crawled all over the area and you can see some of them popping out of nowhere. The chirpings got louder and they seem to be FINDING US FOR REVENGE. I felt guilty about it though and my mind keep on hearing their chirps even outside. CrIcKET PHOBIA? I cant as i will be handling more crickets in time to come. Luckily we will be leaving the school compound after all. I really hope that the crickets will quickly leave the place so that the next school who comes will not suffer the fate. It took as about less than 45 mins to get all the crickets out. ZX and I ran towards the grass separately, one to take the plastic and one to take the tank. We ran out!

FINAL

We went to the toilet and gave the tank a wash. It was finally over but far from the actual experiment. We havent even started it and we were already freaking out. I really hope that from this experience I will be able to deal with them better. One container out but another container to come...

BUYING MORE CRICKETS ON MONDAY.

Hope I will be able to rest in peace in the weekends. See my latest facebook update. FACE THE CRICKETS WAR!

Lots of homework to complete in the holidays. Hope the crickets will be able to rest in peace. Fingers crossed. I apologise to the animals in the eco-foodchain. The crickets will sure disrupt the foodchain.

I guess that after everything, I wont dare to work on crickes anymore. this is just the starting!!!!
